Re: Kids at Hodag?
In Response To: Re: Kids at Hodag? ()

As a parent of children of Hodag for 20 yrs....it is totally up to the parents ...Our group is made up of generation hodagers, my parents missed the first hodag and have been there until sickness and death, as my husband's parents also have gone for almost as long as we have, as well as my sister and her family and their sister and family...so it is a family affair...and is our vacation, and time spent with family, we all camp together, and the kids are able to share hodag with family members the whole week. Some of the most special memories for our children are time spent with their Grandfather at Hodag, they were fortunate enough to be able to spend quality time doing things they all loved, one on one, and time watching the world go by....the kids loved seeing their favorite stars, getting their autographs, pictures taken with them, and even being on the big Hodag stage..especially seeing Joanie and eating cream puffs and cinnamon rolls ..and ice cream at the little red barn....you cant beat those kind of memories....so if you enjoy seeing your kids happy, and time spent with your family, and making memories...definetly bring them...if you are there to party and misbehave yourself, then...dont...your choice...for us it worked out just fine. As for clothing or not, and behavior, drunkedness, etc...its much like that of what they see on t.v., on the internet and see in daily USA these days even at some fairs.., we were lucky when we started bringing our kids, that the "ladies" in the crowd didnt go topless as they do sometimes these days, as we have seen an increase in that in the past few years...Hodag has gotten wilder and less respectful in the past few years, but so has the world around us...( for us, it was a lesson on what not to do for little eyes, they seen how ppl act during the day, nice and funny, and then ...those same ppl after drinks and after dark...those too are lessons for kids...maybe it will just get you a kid who will just say No to drugs and alcohol...who knows! )
